The idea for creating the signed shirt as a raffle prize
at the Ulysses Club 2013 AGM Event on the Fraser Coast was conceived some 2 ½ years ago by the 2013 Event Marketing Manager, Warren Jamieson.
A Fraser Coast Branch shirt was quickly sourced, and plans were put in place to secure the signatures. At the time we knew that the 3 founders of the Ulysses Club would not be around forever.
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of two of them since that time.
Former National President, Kim Kennerson, was a regular visitor of “Old Number 1“, Stephen Dearnley during that period as they both shared a love of the Ulysses Club and UCARF (Ulysses Club Arthritis Research). Kim was approached by Warren for assistance in securing Stephen’s signature. He readily agreed, as did Stephen on the condition that all money raised be donated to UCARF for arthritis research. We had that in mind anyway, so readily agreed. A photo was taken of Stephen signing the shirt, and it forms part of the final framed result.
Kim, with further assistance from Vic and Lyn Lesslie then also secured the signature and accompanying photo of Jack Lewin.
A few months later, National Sponsorship Coordinator Bob McDonald took the shirt to
a gathering of current and past NatCom officials and managed to secure the signature and photo of Bill Vann. The shirt now had been signed by Ulysses Club founders, numbers 1,2 and 3.
At this point, the shirt was shrouded in secrecy. The 2013 AGM Event Committee had decided that no word about it would be publicised until the eve of the Fraser Coast AGM Event. A local picture framer in Hervey Bay was given the task of presenting the prize in spectacular fashion. When you see it up close, there will be no doubt that he did his work well.

This prize stands, in its own way, as a tribute to these 3 founding Ulyssians. Tickets will be on sale at the venue of the 2013 AGM Event on the Fraser Coast , in Maryborough and are also currently available online for members unable to attend the Event.

The draw will take place on Saturday, 20th April, 2013 in the Hoecker, during the dinner. There is no requirement for the winner to be present at the draw. The prize will subsequently be shipped to the winner’s home.
