The planning of more than 10 self-guided rides for the 2013 AGM Event is nearing completion. We've included a real mix of destinations and distances so everyone will be able to sample plenty of the fabulous experiences our region has to offer.
Dine at one of the classic Queenslander pubs you'll find throughout our area, or just enjoy the spectacular coastline and scenery that is the quintessential Fraser Coast. Take the time to tour throughout the region while you're here, or just have a leisurely day ride through the many coastal townships and picturesque country villages that dot our landscape.
How does a day trip to Rainbow Beach & Tin Can Bay sound? Maybe a ride to Gympie or to Bundaberg to see where the famous rum is made? All these destinations are within 100km of the event site, and beautiful Hervey Bay is only 35km away.
Allride sheets will appear on the Event website early in 2013
Bauple & Theebine - 147km round trip via the tiny rural townships of Bauple and Theebine. Learn a little about bauple nut (ooops! - macadamia nut) production and visit 'Mad Ron' where you'll see a unique collection of V8 and jet-powered motorcycles, along with Ron's eclectic mix of machinery and engines. Lunch afterwards at a fair-dinkum Queensland country pub!
Douglas Extravaganza - Visit the largest known private collection of Douglas motorcycles in Australia. The owner has offered to open the doors to his own home to allow select groups to view his fascinating private collectionof motorcycles, memorabilia and paraphernalia. Admission will only be granted to organised ride participants bearing pre-booked (at the event) passes. A small fee will apply.
Paradise Dam - Completed in November 2005 after four years of construction with a capacity of 300,000 megalitres, the dam is named after the old gold mining township of Paradise which now lies beneath the waters. Situated less than 100 km north-west of the AGM Event site, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the fascinating township of Childers on the way.
Adventure Rides - Several easy, but interesting off-road experiences have been planned for the 'dirt-squirts'. These are not extreme enduro rides, but they do include some dirt roads that will take you to some of the region's 'hidden highlights'.
