With the Fraser Coast Showground at Maryborough being such a massive and permanently established facility, the 2013 AGM Event will feature many benefits rarely available to Ulysses members. Two examples of this are check-in on site when members arrive, and on site assembly for the Grand Parade.
The venue includes a huge undercover arena measuring 70m x 40m. Dubbed “The Piazza”, this area will be the hub of activities throughout the week. With table seating for 1200 members, it will feature a stage with entertainment each afternoon and evening. A bar and food vendors will line the perimeter. Each afternoon a “Sundowner Hour” will be conducted with reduced drink prices and free give-aways. Planning for a fashion parade on stage hosted by Neds Motorcycle Wear is well advanced, and there will be “big screens” to keep members updated with information on activities throughout the week.
The venue occupies over 200 acres, all fully fenced. Due to the distance from the nearly 2000 camping sites to the entertainment and traders area, an internal bus service is being provided free by the Hervey Bay RSL for the convenience of our members.
We intend to ensure that a full range of foods is available from on-site vendors. There will be more choices than days of the week, so the food won’t be boring. One such vendor will be a local business who specialise in basic healthy meals. They will be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and have even suggested scones for afternoon tea for good measure!
An on-site Supermarket has been arranged through Maryborough Supa IGA, and a dedicated tyre fitting service will be operated by Maryborough Motorcycles. The tyre of your choice can be pre-ordered so that it is waiting when you arrive, and will be fitted on site at the venue. Alternatively, they will have Dunlop tyres available for those unplanned tyre needs. We’re working with Maryborough Motorcycles to get the tyre pre-booking service operating within the next few months.
Our local newspaper, the Fraser Coast Chronicle is setting up a media centre for the Editor to operate on-site throughout the week and members’ internet access will be available at the centre.
The beautiful seaside city of Hervey Bay is only 35 km from the venue. Many members have already booked accommodation there and intend to travel to the venue each day. A bus service will link with existing regular services to cater for members who wish to enjoy a drink or two and avoid the ride home to Hervey Bay.
Member feedback indicates that tours of Fraser Island and the Bundaberg Rum distillery are high on their “must do” list. As a result, a variety of tours that include pickup and return to the event site have been arranged. To make it easier for members to ensure that they can be guaranteed spots on these tours, an exclusive members pre-booking service has been arranged via the Fraser Coast Visitor Information Centres.
With more than fifty traders already registered and paid to attend, we are certain the 2013 AGM Event will be one you will fondly remember for years to come. More information and updates can be found at the 2013 AGM Event website: www.ulyssesclub.org/branches/frasercoast2013/
